US M7 Priest Self-Propelled Howitzer. The M7 used the hull and running gear of the M3 Medium Tank. It was called "Priest" because of the pulpit-like structure mounting the 50 cal. AA MG. The lower hull and running gear of the M3 Tank was used, with a raised open top superstructure added. Into this was mounted the 105mm howitzer with its split carriage. In an attempt to lower the height, the gun elevation was restricted to +35°, a handicap in mountainous terrain. This was not corrected until the Korean War when a full +65° elevation was obtained. This modification was designated the M7B2. The M7B1 designation was used for the model which utilized the Sherman M4 chassis. First deployed at El Alamein by the British who received large numbers under Lend Lease. The M7 was a mobile and reliable vehicle and was used until the end of the war.

The Sd.Kfz. 138/2 Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer was yet another mobile anti-tank gun based on popular 38(t) chassis. A successor to the effective and widely used Marder III series, the Hetzer was redesigned to eliminate the vulnerable top mounted gun and crew compartment. The 7.5 cm PaK 39 L/48 gun was mounted to the sloped front wall of a completely enclosed and more heavily armored crew compartment. This dramatically increased the protection of the crew, but greatly limited the gun’s movement. The Hetzer was an effective “light” Tank Destroyer that served Germany from the Summer of 1944 until the end of the war. This highly detailed model comes with many fantastic features including rotating wheels and tracks, a main gun that traverses, raises and lowers as well as an operable hatch.

German Panzer 38(t) Series. First is the German Sd.Kfz. 139 Marder III. Like the later designed Marder III M, it was adopted by the German Wermacht from the Czechoslovakian design 38(t) and served as a highly effective ”Tank Destroyer” for the German Army. The Marder III was the first of the Marder series and, for weight and balance issues, was designed with the engine in the rear and the gun and gun compartment in the center of the chassis (The later Marder III M version had the engine relocated to the center of the chassis, hence the designation “M” (middle), and the gun compartment was then placed at the back of the hull). This 1:32 Scale Model features working tracks and opening/closing driver’s hatch.
